Quick Start Instructions for Joining our Online Community
Anyone may join. The process takes just a few minutes. Simply go to our Online Community for Metrowest Nonprofits. Click “Sign Up” in the box in the upper-right corner. You’ll be asked to fill out a profile. Some of the questions are optional (your date of birth is not optional, but no one else sees it if you don’t want them to!). Make sure you click on “Privacy” to make sure that other members of this online community see only what you want them to.
Have questions? Send a message firstname.lastname@example.org
How to Control Your Email Notifications
Every member of this online community can adjust their settings in the upper right corner of their home page. Click on “Settings.” This will take you to another page. On the left side, click “email.” You can receive (or opt not to receive) email notifications for specific Forum discussions, for postings to specific Groups, for general announcements, or for comments and questions in response to an event you have posted. You can also opt to never receive email notifications.
Who Can Post?
Anyone can post events, photos, or announcements. Anyone may respond to a current discussion in any Forum category or may start a new discussion.
How to Post an Event
Click on “Add Event.” You’ll have an opportunity to insert a logo for your organization, the logo for your event, or another graphic. If you don’t insert another graphic, the blue calendar graphic will automatically be inserted. When prompted to insert the “type” of event, use just one or two generic words, suchas “fundraiser” or “workshop” so your event will be found easily by other people performing a search.
Who Can Form a Group?
Groups are closed (by invitation only) and are therefore a great way to facilitate internal communication within your organization or with other colleagues. For example, if local nonprofits that share an environmental mission would like a vehicle to communiate with one another (have discussions, post meeting minutes, announce dates), a Group on this site might be the answer.
If you’d like us to set up an internal Group for you, please send a message to email@example.com
